Sabudana Vada/Tapioca Vada

  • Sabudana (Tapioca) : 1 cup soaked overnight in 1-1/2 cups of water or at least for 3-4 hours
  • Roasted peanut powder :1/2 cup
  • Boiled Potato : 2 medium sized
  • Green chilis : 2 chopped
  • Ginger : 1/2 inch cube chopped
  • Fresh Coriander leaves chopped : 1/4 cup
  • Jeera (cumin seeds) :1tbsp
  • Red chili powder :1 tsp
  • Salt : 1 tbsp or as per you taste
  • Sugar : 1 tsp
  • Oil : for deep frying

Recipe:

  1. In a wok or pan pour oil and let it heat on low flame.
  2. Meanwhile in a bowl take soaked sabudana .
  3. Mash the boil potatoes with your hands and add them to the sabudana.W_SabudanaVada4
  4. Then add roasted peanut powder,green chills,freshly chopped coriander leaves and chopped ginger.
  5. Sprinkle red chili powder,salt and sugar and mix everything very well.W_SabudanaVada5
  6. Out of the mixture make even sized balls and press them between your two palms to give them shape of vadas.
  7. Prepare few vadas like this and now at this point the oil might be hot as desired.
  8. Gently shove the vadas into the oil and deep fry them on medium low flame flipping them both the side till they are light brown and crisp.
  9. Drain them on absorbent paper.
  10. Make remaining vadas too and fry them.
  11. Sabudana vadas are ready to serve .You can serve them hot with green coriander chutney or plain dahi(yogurt).W_SabudanaVada3

Tips:

  • Before frying the vadas make sure the mixture is not too moist .In that case add little more peanut powder other wise vadas will break while frying.
  • Fry the vadas on medieum or low medium flame otherwise the will be crisp from outside but not cooked from inside.
